Chapter 03 — Why Lumencore
What Makes Our Approach Different
We don't teach finance through adult frameworks or high-pressure worksheets. Every element of our programmes is shaped around how young learners actually think and absorb new ideas.
Age-Calibrated Materials
Content is written and illustrated specifically for each age band — 9 to 12 and 13 to 17 — so sessions feel relevant rather than adapted from adult courses.
Consistently Small Groups
Every session runs with a capped group size so each learner has room to ask questions, work through exercises, and move at a comfortable pace.
Family Involvement Built In
Parents receive structured summaries and activity guidance so the learning continues at home rather than ending at the classroom door.
Printed Workbook Format
Tangible, screen-free materials. Learners write, annotate, and complete exercises in a physical workbook they keep throughout and after the programme.
Exploratory, Not Prescriptive
Sessions encourage curiosity and questions rather than pushing fixed financial answers. The goal is building a thinking habit, not reciting formulas.
Locally Rooted Content
Examples, currency, and context are Malaysian throughout. Learners engage with scenarios that actually reflect the economic environment around them.

Chapter 05 — Questions
Frequently Asked Questions
What age groups are the programmes designed for?
Lumencore currently runs programmes for two age bands: the Junior Money Curriculum is for learners aged 9 to 12, and Money Basics for Teens is for ages 13 to 17. The Family-and-Youth Annual Track covers households with school-age children across both ranges. Each track uses materials written specifically for that age group.
Where do the sessions take place?
Sessions are held at our centre at Jalan Sultan Ismail 142, 50250 Kuala Lumpur. The space is set up for small-group workshop learning. If you're unsure how to reach us, feel free to call ahead and we can walk you through directions or parking options.
How large are the groups in each session?
We cap group sizes deliberately so sessions remain interactive rather than lecture-style. The exact number varies slightly by programme but is kept small enough that every learner can participate, ask questions, and move through the material at a reasonable pace.
Do parents need to attend sessions too?
Parents are not required to sit in during sessions, but involvement is encouraged through the take-home materials and parent summaries. The Family-and-Youth Annual Track does run parallel sessions specifically for parents alongside the youth programme. The Junior Money Curriculum includes an end-of-term parent debrief.
What are the fees and what do they cover?
Money Basics for Teens is RM 580 for the full six-week programme. The Junior Money Curriculum is RM 1,950 for the school term, which includes the printed workbook and all sessions. The Family-and-Youth Annual Track is RM 4,720 for twelve months of combined programming for the whole household. All fees cover the full programme including materials.
Is there any prior knowledge required before enrolling?
None at all. Our programmes are designed to be entry points rather than continuations. Whether a child has had previous conversations about money at home or this is entirely new territory, the curriculum starts from foundational concepts and builds gradually. No preparation is needed before the first session.
How do I register my child?
Use the contact form below or call us directly on +60 3 2716 5384. Let us know your child's age and which programme you're interested in and we'll follow up with available dates, intake schedules, and next steps. There's no commitment required at the enquiry stage.
